About

It’s a familiar story: some fifteen-year-olds start a band in their parent’s garage. They write a few songs, play a couple gigs, win a talent show or two, and if they’re lucky they get played on local radio. Altarmotive is a story we’ve heard before, but it’s one that started fifteen years ago. And they’re still going strong.

It isn’t a case of Peter Pan syndrome, or that they can’t let go of some rock star dream, but because there’s a fire inside of them that only burns brighter after all these years.
Maybe they haven’t up and toured the world yet, but something’s been stirring all these years. Something big – something real – like putting God’s Kingdom ahead of their own plans. Like raising up worshippers and leading thousands of people a week into sincere adoration for the King of Kings. And that’s not even the best part. See, these four guys care about people from all walks of life. That is the fire that still burns. Their love for the lost, the outcast, the broken, the orphaned – that is what keeps them moving forward. And now they have to do something more about it.
Altarmotive set out to create a record that expressed their deep love for God, but in a way that was different from any other Christian band they had heard. Wanting to generate something new, they enlisted indie rock legends, Jim Ward (At the Drive-In, Sparta and Sleepercar) and Gabe Gonzalez (Sparta and Sleepercar) to help them shape their sound. They dove in at a frantic pace: writing, recording, writing, mixing, recording and mixing again. Through it all, they never lost their focus, producing the album they were born to record.
And so the AFTERGLOW was born. Afterglow is literally what happens when the sun shines on the particles in the air and they continue to glow even after the sun has set. Spiritually, Afterglow isn’t much different. It is a special time that follows a strong move of God, where those who are touched by His love continue to feel His power as it ripples through them, shining brightly into their life.
Altarmotive is about so much more than music. They’re about people. They’re about shining God’s light and love to as many of those people as possible.
And after fifteen years, these Altarmotive guys are finally ready to take the stage again. Ready to shine the light that has so affected them.
